Online invoice data reporting is mandatory in Hungary from 1 July 2018 when using invoicing software.
One important precondition for successful online invoice data reporting is that the data-export function of the invoicing software works well and includes detailed data structure specified by the related legislation.
Based on our experience, problems can arise in case of using an accounting software which is not developed in Hungary due to either (i) the data-export function that was not created properly through programming or (ii) data structure and data content extracted from the invoicing system through data-export is incomplete. A failure in the data export function of the invoicing software may result in a default penalty of up to HUF 500,000 (roughly EUR 1,500). In most cases a faulty export function leads to problems with data reporting on online invoices too, which can bear even graver consequences: a default penalty of up to HUF 500,000 (roughly EUR 1,500) per invoice.
Our expert team offers support to complete invoicing software with the required data reporting function to ensure compliance with Hungarian laws and regulations. We can assist you in defining the scope of data in line with regulations, in extracting invoice data, preparing data reporting messages, creating correct xml files, setting up and even handling data reporting messages exchanged with the system without manual intervention as set forth by the law. Naturally, all of this also entails the development of appropriate digital systems to ensure the preparation and archiving of compulsory data export documents, the checking of continuity in serial numbers and the pop-up of error messages in the event of faulty data reporting.
